Web13 jun. 2012 · Since we all messed with low dollar stuff in high school, I thought $300 would be sufficient to hop it up a bit especially since I have a bunch of parts already. I think I can divy up the $300 goal as follows: $100 - Summit Racing cam and Lifter kit (build low rpm torque) $65 - Speedway motors head and intake gaskets.

Since you'll be placing and purchasing items that far surpass the value of the 305 short block, I'd pick wisely so that moving them over to another block works well. The 305ho wasn't exactly a slouch in its day and you could hope for a little more.
