Web27 mrt. 2024 · On October 27, 1855, after finding Leschi's Muck Creek farm abandoned, Captain Charles H. Eaton sent ahead two militiamen, James McAllister (whom Leschi had earlier helped find a fertile homestead) and Michael Connell, to try to locate Leschi; both were shot and killed from ambush. Isaac Stevens was the governor of Washington Territory in 1854. He was directly responsible for all Native American affairs including making treaties to acquire land for the United States Government. In December 1854 Stevens called a meeting of the Native American tribes who lived in the South Puget Sound area.
