Is hercules 2400 the same as alliant 2400
WebApr 5, 2011 · Just now read the data on the Alliant site. The only 250 gr bullet I see for 2400 is the 250 gr (Keith) bullet. For that, it shows a charge weight of 13 grains. I wonder why there is such a large discrepancy from the 8.9 to 9.9 that Hornady offers for their 240 HP/XTP bullet? Any other thoughts are both welcomed and appreciated. Thanks! Amistad WebJan 6, 2024 · I've never used 2400, but it is supposed to be a good powder for the Carbine. When looking at the load data, try to load for about 1900 FPS and at or below 40,000 PSI pressure. Don't know how much you've loaded that caliber, but try to stay with a round nose bullet vs. a hollow point. Many GI Carbines won't cycle a hollow point bullet very well.

I think it's the same product. It'd be senseless in this day and age for a manufacturer to market a product radically different from recognized performance levels and represent it as the same product. Alliant is selling 2400, not "2401."

WebAug 30, 2006 · Judging by the data on Alliant's website for 147XTP (10.2gr for a 178PF), I'm guessing you're in the 11gr range?? 2400 is cheaper than even 7625 on a per # basis, but is slightly more expensive on a per load basis - but still cheaper than my current 3N38 by the same amount (again, per load basis).
