WebFeb 3, 2005 · First, loosen one knife and move it either left or right a tad. The offset will cause one of the knives to cut off the raised track. Second, you can easily remove the tracks with a scraper and/or sanding. The finish preparation will remove the tracks without any problem. They are really not worth worring about. Howie.........

WebJul 6, 2002 · Carbide is generally not a good choice. It is very brittle and chips easily. In addition, the whole knife can break rather than the edge just chipping. Run the lift screws into the cutter head so the blades are unsupported. Put a block of wood across the blade and tap it to move the blade down into the recess. A world of difference! The helical head has less cutter head cutting at any single time so the chips come off smaller, unlike the straight knives. But the carbide cutters are the cat’s meow.
