WebThe Boscombe Pier Company was formed in 1886 and the first pile was laid on 11th October 1888. Designed by Archibald Smith, the 600 foot pier opened on 28th July 1889 but, initially, was not successful. The local council took over the pier in 1904 and erected buildings at the entrance and on the pier-head. WebBoscombe Beach is the name given to the beach on both sides of the pier. The beach on the right of the pier runs all the way to Bournemouth and is generally quieter. The beach to the left of the pier has loads of facilities such as cafes, restaurants, shops and equipment hire so is usually busier and more popular with the younger generation.

At the end of the pier there is an indoor climbing area, a restaurant and a small funfair.
